Q&A with Allen Oliver, Town of Kure Beach Mayor Candidate

What has driven you to run this Election?

I have enjoyed the last 5 1/2  years on Kure Beach Commission.   When Mayor Bloszinsky decide not to run this time I felt the timing was right for me to run.

What specific skills do you bring to council should you be elected/ re-elected?

I worked for 35 years in either County or City Government the majority of the time as a Parks and Recreation Director in Asheboro and High Point.  I finished my time in High Point as one of the Assistant City Managers in an interim role.  I later served as Interim Town Manager for the Town of Biscoe in Montgomery County while they looked for a Manager.  I have experience in Water and Sewer, Public Works, Finance Planning and Zoning and Parks and Recreation.   While in High Point I over saw over 10 Million Dollars of Parks and Recreation Facility Improvements.

Do you have any upcoming events promoting your run for office?

Any parting words for residents as we look forward to electing the next council?

We have a great town that has accomplished a lot under Mayor Bloszinsky’s leadership.  I am proud to have been part of that growth and improvements.  I look forward to leading the town in the future.
