Patricia Marie Mullen (Roy), age 85, was born on March 17, 1938 in Sioux Lookout, Canada and peacefully went to be with the Lord on October 31, 2023. She grew up in a small house, with very little, alongside her parents and 13 siblings. She learned about and became passionate about religion at a very young age which fueled her continued lifelong faith that only grew after her prayers for a loving husband and beautiful family were answered. She met the love of her life while he was stationed at the local Air Force base near her home. He swept her off her feet and they continued their military adventures residing in Germany, Spain, Sacramento, England, Iceland among some of the few. They eventually were stationed in Fort Fisher where it became their home base in Carolina Beach and the beginning of their legacy. Along the way they started their family with their two sons, Mark and Gene who proceeded with their 6 beautiful grandchildren.
Pat, as many knew her, was considered to be the matriarch of her family. She was a woman of selflessness, humility, integrity, strength, kindness and the most nurturing tenderness that was felt by any and all who knew her. She had the most brilliant sense of wit and humor and could light the room with her laughter. Her family was at the center of everything she did and her two boys were the light of her life. Her greatest passions included cooking for the ones she loved, volunteering, walking to Fort Fisher, traveling, Elvis, frequenting yard sales and being involved in the church. She was a strong woman of faith and a devoted Catholic attending service at every opportunity available. Above and beyond anything and everything, at the deepest center of heart, was her love and admiration from first sight for the love of her life, Chuck “Dad”. She was the absolute epitome of grace and compassion and truly a walking earth angel. Although she will be so deeply missed, there is so much joy knowing she is reunited with her husband and best friend.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Agnes Roy, her husband Charles D. Mullen, her 8 brothers, Willie, Reggie, Gordie, Francis, Cyril, Leonard, Noel, Norman and 2 sisters, Rosie and Doris. She is survived by her two sons Mark Mullen and Gene Mullen, brothers Bernie and Art Roy, sister Edna Roy, grandchildren Markus Mullen (Tanya), Melissa Peyton, Cari Johnson (Stephen), Chase Mullen, Cory Mullen (Ashley), Heather Mullen and 5 great grandsons and 5 great granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 9 am at Immaculate Conception, 6650 Carolina Beach Rd. Wilmington, NC 28412.
