The Island Men Donate $500 to the Carolina Beach Wrestling Club

The Island Men donated $500.00 to the Carolina Beach Wrestling Club on Sunday during their 5 teamScrambleattheCBRecCtr. Themoneywillgotowardsestablishingatravelteamforthe one-year-old club. The gym was packed with over 200 kids and parents who enjoyed donuts and pizza donated by our Team Sponsors Wake and Bake and Michaelangelo’s. The scramble went well for CBWC with Caleb and Nevin Carr, Cayden and Julian Byrd, Jacob Vanover, Ava Hettinger, Adam Hangok, Adam Eber and Charlie Watts winning their brackets.

CBWC was founded by Dan O’Connor and Wes Knight (head coach at Ashley HS) to provide a feeder program for Ashley Wrestling. The club is open to boys and girls from K through 12th grade. They believe that wrestling not only provides a kid with a self-defense background but develops great character and helps turn them into solid citizens. Wrestling is an individual sport and when you lose you can’t blame it on your teammates. You must look at yourself and strive to work harder to get better. A great lesson for life.

Anyone interested in joining is welcome to call or text Dan O’Connor at 301-325-7225 or check them out on Sundays at 1:00 and Wednesdays at 5:30 at the CB Rec Ctr.
