Island Arts Council is leading an exciting public sculpture project in collaboration with the Carolina Beach Centennial Committee and Town of Carolina Beach to bring artist-painted Venus Flytrap sculptures around our island! April 9th at 4:30 pm at the Carolina Beach Town Hall the community is invited to the project’s official kick-off to see the first salute unveiling and artist meet and greet!
During 2024 we will have a Call for Artists to provide proposals for their concepts for these 4’ fiberglass statues. Then early 2025 the 15+ statues will be installed for the Centennial Celebration. Selected artists will receive a stipend to paint their statue and a portion of the final selling price when it is auctioned in September 2025.
